Five Tiny Things to Stop Buying to Save Big Money

.) Coffee- By all means, continue to buy coffee. But drinking coffee multiple times a day, especially from an overpriced place like Starbuck’s, fuels a caffiene addiction and wastes your money. Most people still need some coffee though, so try buying cheaper coffee in bulk at a place like Costco, or drinking the free coffee in your office.

.) Nail Polish- Seems arbitrary, but some women go crazy collecting fun nail polish colors. While this obviously is fun, and individual nail polishes hardly cost anything, you’d be better off spending that money on something else. You really only need a few colors, especially since men hardly even notice the color on your nails to begin with.

.) Hefty gym memberships- It makes sense to belong to a gym, but you shouldn’t be paying a lot of money for something you could technically do on your own. Ideally, you shouldn’t belong to a gym at all if you want to save money. Instead, invest in some home equipment, and go on runs outside. Running outside is actually better for you because the terrain is rockier and challenges your muscles more.

.) Eating out- Going out to dinner is nice every now and then, but often we don’t realize how much money we waste when we go out. Buying food in bulk and freezing it is a better idea–if you know your family is going to eat a lot of chicken, buy a large amount of chicken and freeze most of it so you don’t need to worry about expiring. Of course, the occasional night out can be nice.

.) Magazines- A lot of the information you get from magazines, you can also get on the magazine’s website in online articles.
